Private Estate in Wildcat Ranch with Lake, Pool and Trails, Seven Minutes from Snowmass Ski Area

A 512-acre retreat in the private Wildcat Ranch community, the MacKenzie Home offers a rare chance to experience views, recreation and wildlife few will ever see. The estate provides a feeling of total escape with the convenience of Snowmass Ski Area five minutes away and the culture of Aspen accessible in just 20 minutes.

The first of 15 estates at the 6,700-acre Wildcat Ranch, the largest private wildlife refuge in Roaring Fork Valley, the MacKenzie Home occupies a prime location on the mile-long Wildcat Lake.

The Main Lodge

Warm and inviting even at 11,000 square feet, the main house -- featured by The New York Times -- evokes a classic European ski lodge with log beams, soaring arched ceilings and stone fireplaces. Western chandeliers and rich leather furniture add touches of the Rocky Mountains.

At the entrance, a two-story great room welcomes you with lake views through wall-to-wall windows. Plush sofas frame a floor-to-ceiling fireplace for game nights or lively conversation after dinner. A formal 12 seat dining room lies just beyond the living area.

In the next room, a sunny chef’s kitchen allows plenty of room for catered meals or social cooking with top-of-the-line appliances and ample counter space. On lazy mornings, sip coffee or mimosas in the kitchen lounge, or enjoy brunch with a mountain view from the six-seat breakfast alcove -- also a perfect “kids’ table” during large family dinners.

A game and exercise room, 15-seat theater, and two-story library add endless entertainment. Small children will delight in exploring the home’s multiple “secret passageways.”

The Grounds

A prime lakeside location allows for year-round adventures on stand-up paddleboards, fishing boats and even ice skates. Two electric pontoons are at your disposal for summer stays. Winter brings opportunities for ice fishing. Winding paths lie out your door for cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, hiking, and horseback riding.

On temperate evenings, take in valley views from the outdoor gazebo -- or choose the covered library veranda. A summer highlight is the lagoon-style swimming pool with its 12-foot waterfall. An adjacent hot tub provides year-round rejuvenation for tired muscles.

A quarter-mile across the valley, a 1,200 square-foot cabin offers space and privacy for additional guests. The two-story home, accessible by golf cart or snowshoe, depending on the season, sits on an aspen-lined knoll overlooking its own pond.

Each bedroom at the MacKenzie house is unique in architecture and design. Many suites have sitting areas, TVs and unique features like copulas and balconies.
