The Housekeeper is essential in essential in helping the Housekeeping Department ensure the homes, residences, and properties remain in pristine condition according to Natural Retreats’ quality and brand standards. With fantastic attention to detail, the Housekeeper will ensure all guests and owners have an amazing first impression of the residences, homes, properties, etc. This individual will need to assist in the upkeep of the properties and escalate any maintenance issues to the relevant department head and management.


Wage is $13 - $17 per hour. 


Job Responsibilities

  • Take full responsibility for the full clean of residences upon the departure of guests.
  • In the absence of Management, check residences prior to the arrival of guests to ensure all residences are in pristine condition.
  • Using the checklist for each residence, ensure that all areas have been cleaned and prepared to the required standard.
  • Use the correct cleaning products for the relevant jobs and ensure hygiene levels are kept to a high standard.
  • Regularly change cleaning materials (e.g. wipes, dusters, etc.) to ensure they are effective and hygienic.
  • Change all bed linens to a high standard, ensuring all linen is clean, unmarked and presentable. Escalate to the relevant manager if linen is marked or damaged.
  • Ensure toiletries are replenished.
  • Ensure the bathrooms are cleaned to a high standard and stocked with sufficient linens and supplies.
  • Ensure all flooring is either vacuumed, swept, and washed as appropriate.
  • In kitchen areas, ensure the refrigerators, ovens, microwaves, and stoves are clean inside and out.
  • Periodically conduct deep cleans of ovens, microwaves, stoves, and refrigerators.
  • Ensure the porches/decks of each residence are swept prior to the arrival of guests to ensure free of leaves, etc.
  • Clean windows (inside) and ensure smear free.
  • Escalate any issues in relation to dirty external windows with the relevant management team.
  • For residences which have open fires, ensure the fire is cleaned and prepared for use by the guests and ensure that there is a full supply of wood and kindling.
  • Spot check each residence throughout the clean and escalate any maintenance issues with the relevant manager.
  • Manage the supplies of cleaning materials and linen and reorder when necessary.
  • When meeting Natural Retreats’ guests, greet them in a friendly, welcoming, and consistent manner.
  • If a guest makes a direct request to Housekeeping, ensure that you promptly fulfill the request and if unable to fulfill the request, raise with the relevant manager. Ensure that you keep the guest aware of the progress and always communicate in a friendly, positive manner.
  • Approach all tasks and requests with a ‘can do’ attitude.
  • Escalate any general issues with the residences to the relevant manager promptly.
  • Be an ambassador for Natural Retreats in all areas to ensure you are always smart and presentable and wearing the correct NR uniform.

  • Physical Demands:

    While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member is regularly required to talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. The Team Member frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands/ fingers to handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The position will require walking for periods of time throughout the day on uneven surfaces or across company property and into homes. The Team Member needs to be frequently moving about inside and outside the homes and must be able to walk, move, and traverse for 85% of the day. This individual works in outdoor weather conditions up to 85% of the day. The Team Member may have to reach above shoulder height or below the waist or lift as required to file or store materials throughout the day. The Team Member must be able to lift 50 lbs. and use proper lifting techniques. Lift items include but are not limited to cleaning supplies, linens, boxes, etc.

    - Stand or sit stationary position: must be able to remain in a stationary position up to 15% of the workday

    - Walk, move, traverse: must be able to be active up to 85% of the workday. This person in this position needs to be frequently moving about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, cleaning supplies and equipment, etc. as well as the interior of the home in the Natural Retreats’ portfolio and across company property

    - Operate, Activate, Use, Prepare, Inspect, Place and Detect: Position constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery such as a copy machine and computer printer. Also, this person will constantly use hands to inspect, complete and maintain inventory, check products in and out, etc.

    - Climb (stairs/ladders) or balance Ascend/Descend: Traverse frequently throughout the homes and properties and climb stairs, ascends/descends a ladder to service the lights and ceiling fans on occasion

    - Stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl: Position self (to), move constantly, positions self to move inside and outside homes and across company property on uneven surfaces, including but not limited to steep hills, driveways, etc.

    - Talk/hear communicate, detect, converse with, discern, convey, express oneself, exchange information: The person in this position frequently communicates with the staff, vendors, housekeepers, inspectors, guests, and homeowners. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.

    - See, detect, determine, perceive, identify, recognize, judge, observe, inspect, estimate, access: This individual must be able to detect all areas of cleanliness and recognize when items are worn and/or a safety issue or concern. Must be able to make judgements to ensure the proper upkeep of homes and to ensure guest and homeowner satisfaction.

    - Taste/smell detect, distinguish, determine: Occasionally, this individual must be able to distinguish odor that may indicate a hazard and/or an unclean environment.

    - Carry weight, lift move, transport, position, put, install, remove: Frequently, this individual moves items such as linens and/or home goods weighing up to 50 lbs. across parking lots and inside the interior of homes.

    - Exposure to the outdoors: This individual constantly works in outdoor weather conditions.

  • Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

    This is a full-time, benefits eligible position. Due to the nature of the job, the Housekeeper should be flexible with his/her hours. Weekends and holidays will generally be busy with guest arrivals and departures and are considered working days. We encourage all of our Team Members to take 2 days off per week where possible. Guests can arrive at unpredictable times, and the Housekeeper should always be available in case of emergency, which includes evenings. Generally, this may mean working some inconsistent hours. Exact daily schedules may vary from season to season and differ from in-season to off-season and are subject to change and vary based on occupancy, arrivals, and departures. Vacation is generally taken outside of peak season.
