We at Natural Retreats are looking for a Property Manager to assist the General Manager and the onsite team with managing the day-to-day operations at our North Lake Tahoe, CA destination. This position will assist the General Manager with ownership of the retreat to ensure the operation remains within budget and profitable. The Property Manager will need to combine outstanding interpersonal skills with considerable organizational ability, commercial acumen, and close attention to detail. The core roles include the overall organization and management of the retreat, property management, recruiting and training of new Team Members, administration, and guest relations.

Job Responsibilities:

Operational Responsibilities

  • Work with the General Manager to oversee owner and guest services and fulfill owner and guest requests
  • Assist with all aspects of maintenance including but not limited to:
    • Reset Wi-Fi routers and modems
    • Reset and program cable and satellite TV receivers
    • Perform light plumbing repairs
    • Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service
    • Diagnose problems, replace, or repair parts, test, and make adjustments
    • Participate in snow and ice removal around the managed properties and around the office as needed
  • Assist with housekeeping as needed to ensure homes are ready for guest arrival
  • Oversee all independent contract inspectors, as well as vendors such as lawn care, hot tub, property care, etc.
  • Provide open, honest, and timely communication to all departments and central teams
  • Manage any stocks of consumable items such as lightbulbs, batteries, dishes, etc. efficiently and within budget, assigning appropriate charges to owners as required by applicable deadlines.
  • Manage the upkeep, maintenance, and inventory of the property, and in conjunction with owners, replace items where necessary using approved suppliers and equipment.
  • Coordinate both recurring and one-time contracted services
  • Conduct property inspections within a timeline outlined by the General Manager and as outlined in our management agreements


Service and Standards

  • Ensure all homeowners receive personalized attention and care and all guests have an AMAZING experience with Natural Retreats from arrival through to their departure
  • Gain and maintain a strong working knowledge of the destination and be able to effectively communicate this to guests and other departments within Natural Retreats
  • Confirm all guests receive a pre-arrival call and meet and greet in line with brand standards, ensuring each home is visited personally at least once during the guest stay.
  • Ensure all properties are ready, prepped, correctly setup, and staged according to Natural Retreats brand standards in a timely manner prior to every guest and owner arrival
  • Ensure all NR brand standards are met in terms of safety, cleanliness, and hygiene
  • Perform meet and greets with guests upon arrival to their rental properties
  • Scan, code, and submit invoiced to Accounting as needed
  • Update, compile, and send cleaning schedules to third-party cleaning vendors
  • Ensure all employees can provide detailed knowledge of the local area passing this onto the Sales team and guests alike



  • Set an example of professionalism by modeling superior work ethic, appearance, timekeeping, preparedness, and attributes to gain the trust, confidence, and respect of all those who work under the General Manager’s direction
  • Participate in the recruiting and onboarding process of staff and independent contractors to ensure they are being deployed in a productive manner
  • Drive world class service by educating and training Team Members on standards and service expectations
  • Act as a culture champion by being accountable for following the policies and procedures set forth in the Natural Retreats’ Handbook

Experience and Skills:


  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in hospitality, property management, or other related fields.
  • Basic knowledge of audio/visual, electrical, plumbing, mechanics, and appliance repair
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Computer savvy, able to learn new software programs
  • Proficiency in Outlook
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel and Word
  • Strong organizational skills

  • Work Environment:

    This job operates in indoor and outdoor conditions while performing manual labor on the homes. The individual will be driving in varying weather conditions, depending on the season, while also performing administrative work in an office environment.


  • Physical Demands:

    While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member is regularly required to talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. The Team Member frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands/ fingers to handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. This position will require walking for periods throughout the day on uneven surfaces or across company property and into homes. This person in this position needs to be frequently moving about inside and outside the homes and must be able to walk, move, and traverse for 80% of the day. This individual works in outdoor weather conditions up to 80% of the day. The employee may have to reach above shoulder height or below the waist or lift as required to file or store materials throughout the day. Proper lifting techniques are required. The individual must be able to lift 25 lbs. and use proper lifting techniques. Lifting items include but are not limited to boxes, equipment, deliveries, mail, etc.

    Stand or sit stationary position: must be able to remain in a stationary position up to 20% of the workday.

    Walk, move, traverse: must be able to be active up to 80% of the workday. This person in this position needs to be frequently moving about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, cleaning supplies and equipment, etc. as well as the interior of the home in the Natural Retreats’ portfolio and across company property.

    Operate, Activate, Use, Prepare, Inspect, Place and Detect: Position constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery such as a copy machine and computer printer. Also, this person will constantly use hands to inspect, complete and maintain inventory, perform maintenance-related work orders, operate a variety of hand tools, shovels, lawn mowers, rakes, etc. 

    Climb (stairs/ladders) or balance Ascend/Descend: Traverse frequently throughout the homes and properties and climb stairs, ascends/descends a ladder to service the lights, ceiling fans, gutters, porches, etc.

    Stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl: Position self (to), move constantly, positions self to move inside and outside homes and across company property on uneven surfaces, including but not limited to steep hills, driveways, etc. and bend to access cabinets, storage areas, and under furniture. This person will have to work on their knees for periods of time.

    Talk/hear communicate, detect, converse with, discern, convey, express oneself, exchange information: The person in this position frequently communicates with the staff, vendors, housekeepers, inspectors, guests, and homeowners. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.

    See, detect, determine, perceive, identify, recognize, judge, observe, inspect, estimate, access: This individual must be able to detect all areas of cleanliness and recognize when items are worn and/or a safety issue or concern. Must be able to make judgements to ensure the proper upkeep of homes and to ensure guest and homeowner satisfaction.

    Taste/smell detect, distinguish, determine: Occasionally, this individual must be able to distinguish odor that may indicate a hazard and/or an unclean environment.

    Carry weight, lift move, transport, position, put, install, remove: Frequently, this individual moves items such as linens and/or home goods weighing up to 25 lbs. pounds across parking lots and inside the interior of homes. This person may have to shovel snow, ice, leaves, debris, etc.

    Exposure to the outdoors: This individual constantly works in outdoor weather conditions.

  • Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

    This is a full-time position. Due to the nature of the job, the Property Manager should be flexible with their hours. This position is hourly non-exempt and requires 40 hours per week, although there may be weeks where additional hours or workdays are required due to business demands and occupancy levels. While weekends can be covered on request, they are generally working days and will be busy with guest arrivals and departures. The Property Manager is allowed two (2) days off per week but should always be available in case of emergency or due to unpredictable guest arrivals. Generally, this will mean a working day of 8:00 am – 6:00 pm, although on occasion this may vary according to occupancy levels. All Property Managers are required to be on-call 2 to 3 nights per week. Generally, this may mean working some inconsistent hours. Exact daily schedules may vary from season to season and differ from in-season to off-season.
