Meet the Retreat Manager: Tybee Joy
What it’s like to work in America’s “Happiest Seaside Town”
You might catch her cycling to work on her pink, floral bike, or sipping a glass of sweet tea on the porch of her turquoise beach cottage. Whether in the office or shopping around Tybrisa Street, Tybee Joy has become a local celebrity within the coastal community and takes pride in assisting guests to find the perfect beach home or cottage to complete their Tybee paradise.
Before becoming a Tybee Island retreat manager, Joy worked in the design industry in Savannah, where she developed a passion for home décor and an eye for fashion. She leveraged her expertise to help countless clients create their dream homes and accumulated several years of customer service and real estate know-how. After her first visit to Tybee, Joy fell in love with the sea-side town and soon after, relocated to her current residence on the island, realizing that her knowledge would best be served doing something more.
Known for her colorful attire and endless collection of flip-flops, Joy fit right in with the Tybee community and it wasn’t long until she called this quaint, little island home.
Joy spends her work days welcoming guests and assisting them with planning activities and providing local tips to make their vacation absolutely perfect! Her knowledge of the area and love for the island community makes her the best resource for visitors interested in a true Tybee experience.

Bright colors always make her day "Joy"ful

In her spare time, she enjoys sprucing up her home with hidden treasures found at the local thrift shops. According to Joy, there’s nothing that a fresh coat of colorful paint can’t fix! Her home is appropriately decorated with pink, green, and her favorite color, turquoise, along with accents of oyster shells, star fish, and drift wood.
In maintaining the quintessential Tybee lifestyle, Joy uses her golf cart (turquoise, of course!) as a mode of transportation when she isn’t driving or biking. Keep your eyes peeled for her colorful cart outside the Seaside Sisters apparel shop or parked by Tybean Art & Coffee, as she won’t be too far away!
Joy lives and breathes the Tybee Island lifestyle in her everyday life, greeting everyone with a warm smile and always offering a helping hand. On your next visit to Tybee, make sure you stop by and say hello! It will definitely add to the “Joy” of your Tybee Island stay!
