We Love Lake Winnipesaukee - House Rough

We have been staying on Lake Winnipesaukee for over two decades. The place we had stayed at in previous years was destroyed in a storm. We were at this property after that happened, way back in 2007. It looked online as though the furniture had changed and I was hoping for some updates that had not occurred - so that is on me. There are some very amazing things about this place and some things that were not so great. The kitchen is a bit rough to cook in with an oven that is temperamental. When we checked in, there were only 3 rolls of toliet paper for 8 people over a week stay. No dishwashing detergent, no cleaning supplies of any kind. No extra trash bags, no salt and pepper even! The old shag carpet in the bedroom off the kitchen is challenging for a person with allergies and the mattress needs to be replaced. The spare cottage/bunkroom in the way back was okay for little boys back in 2007, but no one in our group wanted to sleep there this time. Its very rough back there. The property is very close to the marina and there is a ton of boat traffic - a lot of noise and wake. I would have expected the lockbox for the key to be near the door, and it was difficult to find and not included in our instructions, so we had a moment of panic when we showed up. Very late check-in of 4 PM sort of kills your first day. I think that is inappropriate - we should be able to check-in at the latest 3 PM. Most hotels allow you to check in by 3 PM. Great things about the property: Outstanding views from the front rooms across the house of Bear Island, the mountains in the distance and lake. (see photos) Just gorgeous! The porch is big and accomodates a big crowd. A newer boat house that has a fantastic dock and a floating platform out in front of the house. The location on Lovejoy Sands is close to Meredith and Center Harbor, yet feels 'private.' There is nice space between this house and the houses on either side. Lots of deer. The living room has some nice leather couches and a big screen tv. Because you will spend most of your time outside, and hopefully not cooking a ton with an oven, overall this is a really nice place and we had a wonderful trip. I think that we will probably try something that is more updated on the interior for 2020 though.
