Quaint Romantic Getaway in Taos 1-Bedroom, 1-Bath Home
Casita de Alfrero is the perfect romantic getaway for couples who enjoy the desert climate and want to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. This quaint stucco home is located in El Prado, New Mexico—a small town nestled in the foothills of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. This area is known for its beautiful scenery and mild weather, and has long been a popular destination for artists and nature lovers. This "Casita," or little home, offers stunning desert mountain views and is surrounded by cacti and other desert plants. Less than 20 minutes from the historic town of Taos, this is the perfect home base for exploring the surrounding area.
Taos is known for its vibrant art scene, as well as its diverse array of shops and restaurants. Home to a number of different sites and attractions, such as the Georgia O'Keeffe Museum, this small town pays homage to the famed artist and the beautiful work she created while in town. You can also check out other historical sites like Taos Pueblo, Rio Grande Gorge Bridge, and more.
Visitors to Taos enjoy hiking, biking, golfing, whitewater rafting, and horseback riding in the summer. In the winter, Taos becomes a ski haven for skiers and snowboarders alike—as this area offers world-class terrain, significant snowfall, and an abundance of après-ski opportunities. Less than 30 minutes from the ski areas, you and your guest can quickly find your way onto the mountain tops.
As you enter this 1-bedroom, 1-bath home-away-from-home, you'll admire the simplicity of its design, which requires less energy in the summer and winter months. You and your guest will feel at home on the cozy couch or oversized armchair as you reminisce about old times or quietly watch television to unwind after a long adventurous day. The large windows and natural lighting flooding into the room give it a nice glow at sunrise and sunset.
When making a romantic home-cooked meal for two, you'll find the size of the kitchen in Casita de Alfrero perfect. With wood cabinets and plenty of tile counter space, you can prepare meals or enjoy a cocktail while the chef finishes. You'll appreciate the gas range oven, microwave, coffee maker, and toaster in the morning when you need a quick meal before heading out for the day.
If you're more interested in grilling out, step out onto the patio dining area that includes a table, four chairs, and a fire pit. Use the outdoor gas grill to make BBQ or steaks. Don't forget to take advantage of the evenings in New Mexico! Enjoy unobstructed views of the night sky with little to no light pollution.

We loved out stay here! Had everything we needed and Natural Retreats was on top of everything! Super responsive and called before we check-in to make sure we didn’t have any questions. Texted throughout our stay to make sure everything was good. Beautiful location and the dogs loved having some space!

This cozy casita was the perfect place for my husband and I and our dog to ride-out an unexpected wind/snow storm. The mountain views were beautiful. The washer and dryer was very handy after a long week of travel prior to our arrival. The kitchen had everything we needed. Natural Retreats stocked the house with everything we needed from cooking oil to laundry soap! The location was great (half-way to the town of Taos and half-way to TSV).

This home was a great space for our weekend away in Taos. It’s convenient to town and Taos Ski Valley while also being quiet and off the beaten path.
The home was very clean and included all the necessary amenities to feel at home.
Note, we did bring our pooch and there was an added pet fee that wasn’t included in the original listing price.

Your customer service was honestly the best and most attentive that I've ever received while renting an Airbnb. You're all very good at your job and it's easy to see you care. Thank you.

If I could give this place 10 stars I would. Your own private paradise with an absolutely spectacular view of the mountains. The kitchen is completely stocked with brand new everything you’ll need. The bed is super comfy with a huge tv to doze off to at the end of the day. The entire apartment was warm and cozy in the middle of an insane winter storm. Perfect location for our dogs to run around. And Jessica attended to our every need with the best customer service you could ever need. And finally, a rarity in Taos, the internet was screaming fast, 80 mbps easily. Zoom meetings with video no problem. And go eat at Medley right up the street. Trust me, it doesn’t get any better.

Such a serene location. From the bedroom you are able to see beautiful sunrises/sunsets, and the most vivid starry sky. Beautifully set so close to the mountains. Very clean, great communication from host, and quick drive into Taos. We loved it so much we extended our trip a night!

You were great about being in touch with reminders and other info before my trip, were VERY engaging and responsive in exchanges with me about links that didn’t work (I couldn’t get to the map & directions), were very responsive to my comments/feedback on the property — and said you’d follow up on a suggestion. Overall, very helpful. I’d be interested in working with you on a future rental.

Such a beautiful place to stay. I didn’t need anything as the hosts had thought of everything, makeup wipes, dishwasher packets, etc.
