Your Winter Bucket List for Taos Ski Valley

It's finally that time of year again. The leaves have fallen from the trees, the air is crisp, and the powder hounds are packing up their gear to head for Taos Ski Valley—and we can't say we blame them. Known for pristine runs, stunning bluebird sky days, and some of the friendliest locals you'll ever meet, Taos is truly the gem of New Mexico. Itching to make the most of your visit to Taos? We have you covered! Here is the official Winter Bucket List for Taos Ski Valley:

1) Drink a Beer at The Bavarian Restaurant
After a couple of runs down the mountain, stop in at The Bavarian Restaurant at the base of Lift 4 and enjoy a well-deserved beer. Inspired by the authentic Alpine lodges of Europe, this local favorite is a must and is at the top of our winter bucket list!

2) Enjoy a Slope-Side Soak
Nothing is more gratifying than enjoying a nice long soak in the relaxing waters of a hot tub with a view of the mountains. It's simply the best way to unwind, relax, and get ready for another day of hitting the slopes! Prioritize your relaxation and check out our retreat Tembion 1 – replete with a hot tub and sauna to enhance your après recovery.

3) Hike Yerba Canyon Trail
Ready to mix up your winter activity? Trade in your skis for hiking boots and enjoy the scenic, four-mile trek up Yerba Canyon Trail and admire the vast panoramas atop Lobo Peak. From the trailhead to the peak, you'll gain 3,700-feet in elevation and have an opportunity to relish in the peacefulness of the New Mexico mountains. Be sure to check in on the current conditions of the trail before you start your hike!

4) Order a Hot Chocolate at the Phoenix Grill
Situated at the base of Lift 4, Phoenix Grill is the perfect spot for a quick pick-me-up cup of hot chocolate and a bite to eat before heading back up the lift. Our favorite snack? Pulled pork BBQ sandwich with the ale maple barbecue sauce!

5) Enjoy the Southwestern Ambiance
The Southwestern part of the United States is renowned for its earthy color palette and rich Indigenous roots. Fully embrace the flair of the Southwest and book your stay in a home that pays homage to New Mexico through its interior decoration. Just a short walk to the slopes and all the fun of Taos Ski Valley, Lake Fork 8 is adorned with diverse textiles and subtle nods to the local wildlife.

Perfect for any season, a hot air balloon ride is both a gentle but thrilling way to experience Taos. Check out Taos Balloon Rides or Pueblo Balloon for more information.

7) Get Cozy Around the Fireplace
Your après-ski routine should always end in front of a roaring fireplace. There is simply nothing better than cozying up to loved ones after an exciting day outdoors in Taos! Grab a good book or pick a movie to watch and settle in. If you ask us, the fireplace in Tembion 2 is perfectly situated to enjoy the warmth of the fire and to get comfortable on the couch.
