Planning on visting Glacier National Park this summer and taking the Going-to-the-Sun Road or the North Fork between June 13 and Sept. 28.?  Make sure you have your vehicle registartion ahead of time for the summer season!  

Who Needs a Reservation?

Vehicle reservations for Glacier National Park’s upcoming summer season will be available starting Feb. 13, at 8 a.m. Mountain Standard Time.

Reservations will be required this year for the west side of the Going-to-the-Sun Road and the North Fork between June 13 and Sept. 28. Each area requires a separate reservation, which can be made up to 120 days out from the planned entry date.

Visitors with advance plans to visit the park are encouraged to use the advance booking window, but a second booking window for next-day entry will be available starting June 12 at 7 p.m. Mountain Standard Time.

Two-hour time blocks will be available, beginning at 7 a.m. and ending at 3 p.m. Visitors may enter the park at any time within their chosen block and can stay in the park as long as they like on the day of their reservation. Visitors who miss their reservation can still enter after 3 p.m.

Going-to-the-Sun Road Info

A Going-to-the-Sun Road timed entry vehicle reservation is required for each vehicle or motorcycle accessing Going-to-the-Sun Road through the West Entrance past the Apgar Check Point from June 13 through September 28, 2025, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.    

A timed entry vehicle reservation is not required when entering through the St. Mary Entrance to access Going-to-the-Sun Road.  

This reservation provides access for one private vehicle or one motorcycle to enter Going-to-the-Sun Road through the West Entrance past the Apgar Check Point from June 13 through September 28, 2025, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.    

In addition to a vehicle reservation, a park pass is required to enter the park. A Going-to-the-Sun Road vehicle reservation does not include a park pass, and the park pass does not serve as a vehicle reservation.

The entire Going-to-the-Sun Road does not usually open until late June at the earliest. Going-to-the-Sun Road timed entry vehicle reservations are sold prior to the full opening of Going-to-the-Sun Road. Check the park website for current road status or to sign up for text alerts.    

To avoid congestion-related delays, visitors are encouraged to use the St. Mary Entrance to access Going-to-the-Sun Road.

 

North Fork Area Info

The North Fork area of Glacier National Park is remote and requires a 1 hour or more one-way drive on dirt roads from West Glacier and getting there is challenging. A four-wheel-drive vehicle is recommended. There is no water, gas, food, lodging, Wi-Fi, or cell service. Please do not make a reservation for the North Fork without thorough research of the area and full intentions of using the reservation.

A North Fork timed entry vehicle reservation is required for each vehicle or motorcycle accessing the North Fork area from June 13 through September 28, 2025, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.  

A North Fork timed entry vehicle reservation provides access for one private vehicle or motorcycle to enter the North Fork area of the park at the Polebridge Entrance Station. In addition to a North Fork timed entry vehicle reservation, a park pass (7-day, annual, or lifetime) is required at the time of entry. A North Fork timed entry vehicle reservation does not include a park pass, and the park pass does not serve as a vehicle reservation.

How to Secure your Spot

Reservations can be made online at recreation.gov or through the recreation.gov mobile app. Visitors without internet access can also make reservations through the recreation.gov call center between 8 a.m. and 10 p.m. Mountain Standard Time at 877-444-6777. International callers should use 606-515-6777 and the deaf or hard of hearing can call 877-833-6777.

Reservations are subject to a $2 processing fee. Visitors also need a park pass, which can be purchased upon arrival for $35.
